SUBSTITUTE LIST
The GHAGO Substitute List is provided as a service to organizations looking to contract independent organists and/or choir directors. Any GHAGO member in good standing is eligible to be included on this list, upon their own request.
Employers are strongly encouraged to request references and/or representative recordings before contracting a particular musician. Inclusion on this list does not represent any particular level of proficiency. The information provided by those on the sub list has not been confirmed by GHAGO nor is GHAGO able to ensure that any individual is appropriate for any particular situation.

First Congregational Church - East Hartford, CT
Choir Director/Organist; Praise Band Leader
The music program at First Congregational Church of East Hartford is growing! Our dedicated volunteer 4-part choir is going strong. The new-er contemporary praise band is full of energy and talent. The congregation of 50-70 Sunday worshippers enjoy the musical offerings of both groups, plus soloists and instrumentalists, along with the moving sounds of our Neill-Johnson pipe organ and recently refurbished Steinway grand piano.
We are looking for two part-time music worship leaders to support the growing music program: a choir director and a praise band leader. Each position would provide worship leadership twice a month, September – June, accompanying hymns and directing a special music piece (either choir anthem or praise band piece). Read the detailed job descriptions below. A pianist/organist accompanies hymns and soloists during the summer and occasional program-year services.

Sunday morning Divine Liturgy September-June, 9:45-11:15 am, to accompany choir and play solo. Play for Thursday night choir rehearsals (2-3x/month) and some additional events, including festivals, concerts, and weddings.
$125-$150/service, depending on experience.

North Canton Community United Methodist Church - North Canton, CT
Pianist/Organist
North Canton Community United Methodist Church is seeking a candidate for the position of Pianist/Organist. The musician will prepare and lead music for weekly Sunday worship services throughout the year and would also include holiday services (Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, Christmas Eve). The Pastor/Service Leader will choose hymns and notify the musician one week prior to the service. Prelude, Offertory and Postlude from sacred music may be chosen at the discretion of the musician. Periodically there will be a soloist for the Offertory that will coordinate with the musician for accompaniment.

Compensation: $125 per service for one worship service and one rehearsal if needed. Stipends for weddings and funerals paid by families.
